Founded
in 1979, PMC is a leading world-class manufacturer
of specialty electrical wire and cable, including
thermocouple and electron beam cross-linked
products.
PMC rapidly
outgrew the existing business systems as the
company broadened into new markets. Desired
capabilities were complex part numbering along
with specialized lot control for a cabling
and wiring manufacturer. The PMC disparate
business systems in use could no longer accommodate
the needs of a constantly growing company.
WinMan
had the flexibility and functional capabilities
required to fulfill the specifications for
a new ERP system at PMC. In 1998 WinMan was
selected based on functional fit, affordability
and with a proven return on investment. These
qualities have helped PMC maintain profitability
and continued growth.
WinMan
is able to maintain complex part numbers up
to seventy characters in length satisfying
PMC’s part numbering requirements. WinMan’s
extensive lot control functionality was used
as a foundation to manage complex material
specifications and lot matching. The WinMan
system has demonstrated adaptability to the
unique production and tracking requirements
at PMC.
PMC previously
had three disjointed systems consisting of
sales, accounting, and production. WinMan’s
fully integrated system lowered PMC’s total
cost of ownership by incorporating all aspects
of ERP into a single real-time database.
PMC has
been very progressive with WinMan since the
initial purchase by incorporating all new and
enhanced functionality as it is released. As
an example, PMC has fully implemented the WinMan
Real Time Communicator (RTC). Thus, adding
the ability to communicate with customers and
creating a new level of customer service. The
WinMan RTC functionality allows for real-time
visibility of product availability to sales
and production associates. Keeping the WinMan
ERP system up to date allows PMC to take advantage
of new methods and capabilities while maximizing
their return on investment.
